Embrace the Fashion Nostalgia of 1940s and 1950s Hawaiian Fashion
"Cascading Lei" is a figurine from our line of "Gil" porcelain statuettes. The mysterious and obscure artist, known only as "Gil", probably arrived in the Islands in the early '30s or '40s from the San Francisco Bay Area. His distinctive airbrush technique and vintage images evoke the early days of the United States' enchantment with the Islands "old Hawaii", a style that characterized much of the the fashion artwork in Waikiki post World War II.
- Inspired by "Gil"
- Approx. 10” Tall
- Hand-painted Porcelain
Gil was a mysterious Californian airbrush artist who skillfully layered complex textures to capture the grace and beauty of Hawaiian people. Today, Gill's work is considered the most recognizable from the golden era of "travel to the islands." Gill's art skillfully represents the popular Hawaiian vintage style.
